Once more, triathlon became the most daunting indoor sport in Cebu as the 2nd Holiday Gym and Spa Indoor Triathlon unfolded last November 14, 2009. The event which featured a 300 meter swim in the pool, 10K spin on a stationary bike and a 3k run on a rubberized track gathered over 40 triathletes. The Men's Open division was a see-saw battle between Ralph Francistino Arche and Franz Baguio as the latter took the lead after the swim event. Arche then overtook Baguio in the bike leg and never looked back in the run as he cruised with the fastest time of the day clocking 35:50 to rule the Men's Open category. He was followed by Franz Baguio in 2nd with 36:28. Warren Troy Vergara did just enough to take 3rd place honors with 36:44. Leading the charge in the Women's Open category was multi-titled athlete Lorhiz Echavez with a time of 38:54. In 2nd place was Janice Bautista finishing 41:13. Cebu 's former triathlon queen Ripples Faelnar proved she's still got the legs to take 3rd spot in 49:10.
